 FACINE 29 ANNOUNCES FULL-LENGTH FILM WINNERS:

KIP OEBANDA'S LIWAY, ALBERTO MONTERAS II'S RESPETO WIN GOLD; KENKEN NUYAD, GLAIZA DE CASTRO, DOMINIC ROCO, DEXTER DORIA LEAD PERFORMANCE HONOREES

San Francisco, November 15, 2022 - The 29th Annual Filipino International Cine Festival and Competition has announced winners, full-length film division, in different categories. As in the previous two years, FACINE adopts a tiered selection of winners.

Two martial-law themed films, Kip Oebanda's LIWAY, about a young boy who grew up in a Marcos detention camp at the closing days of the dictatorship and Alberto Monteras II's RESPETO, an aspiring rap singer who befriends an elderly bookseller haunted by his martial law past, win Gold. LIWAY also got Gold nods to its three main actors: Kenken Nuyad, Glaiza de Castro and Dominic Roco.

Dexter Doria, star of Jay Altarejos's MEMORIES OF FORGETTING, rounds up the performers' Gold list, with an Outstanding Performance in a secondary role.

Another film, an animated adult comedy, Avid Liongoren's HAYOP KA: THE NIMFA DIMAANO STORY, garners the Gold honors for direction for Liongoren. A special citation is given for an Ensemble Voice Performance for its three leads: Angelica Panganiban, Robin Padilla and Sam Milby.

The winners were selected by an esteemed panel of three jury members: Film scholar, critic, author JB Capino, Indonesian film scholar, curator Gaston Soehadi and film and theater actor, academic Sunita Mukhi.

FACINE is the longest-running festival of Filipino films outside of the Philippines, a premiere showcase of Filipino cinema for the past 29 years,
