 FACINE IN FULL BLAST IN ITS 28TH YEAR, 2021

WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS!
FACINE, the Filipino Arts & Cinema International, after a year of hiatus due to the pandemic, among other things, the temporary closure of its physical theater space, the Roxie, and the various challenges in fundraising, is back this year to hold the 28th filipino international cine festival or FACINE 28. The festival, long considered the longest-running festival of films from the Philippines and the diaspora, is scheduled on October 21-24, in hybrid format, both in-person and on-line.
FACINE is greatly pleased to have four new members in its fold. In behalf of the other members of the group led by Neil Torrefiel, our Executive Director, Sheila Alix, Leni Marin, Jethro Patalinghug, Celi Tamayo-Lee, Caroline Patalinghug, Nikki Vendil, Nino Ariel Fajardo, Ben Villao, Jim Flores and Tony Remington, I welcome them!
MARIA ISABEL LOPEZ, beauty queen (Bb. Pilipinas Universe 1982), actress of 37 years and counting (her most famous performances include Ishmael Bernal's WORKING GIRLS, 1984; Elwood Perez's SILIP: DAUGHTERS OF EVE, 1985; Brillante Mendoza's KINATAY, 2009), visual artist, raconteur, indigenous people's rights advocate, and now based in Sonoma County will assist the team in its outreach and community engagement initiatives;
JEFF MUNAR, art director & designer, has over ten years of experience in advertising and design crafting memorable moments for many clients, from legacy brands to startups, including SF Gov DCYF, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Adobe, National Basketball Association, Asian Law Caucus, Chanel, Starbucks, Google Maps, General Electrics, Chevrolet, Microsoft, American Giant, Cheetos, Comcast Xfinity, Häagen-Dazs, Sprint, Women’s tennis association, and Nice Collective. Jeff firmly believes that capturing authentic stories drive the evolution of the branding process. .
ROBIN ABAD OCUBILLO, urban Designer and planner with a passion for film, but whose career has focused largely on public space design, management, and policy. Currently with SF Planning, he manages the Central Waterfront-Dogpatch Public Realm Plan, a multi-agency effort to scope and program streetscape and open space infrastructure projects into the City’s capital implementation plan and also serves as the Lead Policy Planner for Places for People, the first municipal placemaking ordinance of its kind in the country for amplifying tactical urbanism activity in San Francisco’s streets and open lots.
YANCY TRINIDAD, an experienced event producer, event director, casting manager, show caller, and stage manager, has worked in some of the most innovative shows in the fashion industry all around the world such as the Copenhagen Fashion Week, Los Angeles Fashion Week, and New York Fashion Week. He has produced events for international brands such as Uniqlo, Calvin Klein, Charriol, Sofitel, Youtube, and Facebook; currently a Senior Producer at Summer Design Studio applying his live events expertise into digital discipline.
