FACINE 26 ANNOUNCES SHORT FILM WINNERS, CITATIONS;
ARBY & CHRISTINE LARANOS'S LIWANAG, LAWRENCE FAJARDO'S MEMORIES OF THE RISING SUN, RALPH QUINCENA'S BISPERAS WIN GOLD;
JUAN CARLO TAROBAL'S NILALANG WINS SILVER;
JOHN ALSEN ESTRELLA'S TAHANAN, KING ABALOS'S MARIA GET BRONZE
Twenty one out of 62 submissions were chosen as finalists. As with the full-length film competition, the short film finalists were screened by a jury of three members, each member rates each film in all categories; the festival director tallies all ratings and selected the winners following through the multiple-winner awards process that subjected the full-length films.
Members of the jury include:
Actress, director, producer Kristine Geolaga (A PERIOD DRAMA, as director, writer and actor; awarded for best female performance at the Sacramento International Asian American Film Festival for Jazmin Jamias's I HATE THE COLOR RED;
Actor, director Theophilus Jamal (ALICE, INTERRUPTED); a community activist who conducts media workshops for urban youth in Chicago;
Curator, cultural organizer Lian Ladia, who finished her MA in Curatorial Studies at the Bard College.
